Writing is what I do on the side: Harry Grundy with Lily Kong

Harry Grundy

Writing is what I do on the side.

I keep a notebook on my side table.
I keep RhymeZone and Thesaurus.com in my side bar.

It projects my honest side.
The ‘I’ll tell you what lurks inside’ side.

I type with two fingers.
But can do it blind.
I butter my bread on both sides.

Between Dickens and Tolstoy; I could not possibly pick a side
Because I have not read either of them.

‘Take a walk on the wild side.’
Lou Reed

‘The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to
escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.‘
Marcus Aurelius

‘Go vegetable heavy. Reverse the psychology of your plate
by making meat
the side dish and vegetables the main course.‘
Bobby Flay

To whom it may concern
Couldn’t concern me less
I write from both sides of the desk.

Both sides of my desk are a mess.

My best side stories
Are as original as
West Side Story.

Writing is what I do on the side.

Write about the side with the greener grass
Write a list of ways to get there
Write a scathing review of how it’s no better than where you

When the day comes that you wake up on the right side of the bed
Write about it that evening
You will climb into bed on the same side.
